Wisconsin Child Support Payments

Wisconsin child support payments are an essential pillar of the state's commitment to ensuring the well-being and financial stability of children in divorced or separated families. After calculating child support in Wisconsin, it’s time to send payment to the appropriate place. Fulfilling financial duties can be carried out through several methods.

Who Do I Make Child Support Payments To?

In Wisconsin, you make child support payments directly to the Wisconsin Support Collections Trust Fund (WI SCTF). WI SCTF then pays the other party. You should not make payments directly to the other party.

How Do I Find Out How Much Money I Owe in Child Support?

To obtain your current child support balance, you can call your local child support agency. The Wisconsin child support phone number is (608) 264-6323. You may also use the child support WI login on the Child Support Online Services (CSOS) website.

Ways to Pay Child Support in Wisconsin

Most commonly, child support payments are taken directly from your paycheck. In fact, under Wisconsin law, support orders must include income withholding. However, in instances where income withholding is not possible, for example, if you are unemployed, self-employed, or seeking to make payments on past-due arrears, child support payments may be made online, via direct deposit from your bank account, by phone or by mail.

Income Withholding

It is important to note that, if income withholding is in place, your child support will be automatically deducted and paid to WI SCTF. It is best to not make court-ordered child support payments directly to the other party.

Before your first child support payment is due, the child support agency notifies your employer of the portion of your paycheck that is to be allotted to child support. Your employer then deducts the allotted portion before cutting your paycheck and pays this amount directly to WI SCTF. Some employers may also charge an additional fee for this process.

*Employers have up to 5 business days to send the payment, so support payments will not always post on the same day of the week.

A similar process may be used for unemployment payments, compensation checks, pension payments and Social Security Disability Income benefits. Once income withholding starts, payments should start coming in according to when the paying parent gets paid.

Pay Online

To ensure you are using a website accepted by your local child support agency, a good starting place is to check with your specific agency.
However, commonly accepted payment websites include:

  1. ExpertPay
  2. AllPaid
  3. MoneyGram

Credit cards, debit cards, checking accounts or savings accounts are acceptable payments. ExpertPay also accepts PayPal. When paying online, fees may apply depending on the website and the chosen form of payment.

Pay by Phone

If you would like to make payments over the phone, you first have to file an authorization form. After you complete and return the authorization form, you will receive a 4-digit access code.

When you are ready to make the payment, you can then call the KIDS Information Line at:

TEL 1-800-991-5530 or TDD 1-877-209-5209

You will be asked to provide your 4-digit access code and a receiver code that identifies the receiver of your payment.

The WI SCTF receiver code is 14692.

Pay with Cash / In Person

You can pay in person at any MoneyGram location. Many retail grocery stores and pharmacies include MoneyGram locations. If you choose to pay in person with a credit or debit card, expect a small fee to be assessed. You will be asked to complete a MoneyGram Express Payment Form. When paying in person through MoneyGram, payments are posted to your child support account within 5 days.

You will be asked to provide a receiver code that identifies the receiver of your payment. The WI SCTF receiver code is 14692.

There are several MoneyGram locations in Wisconsin.

Pay By Mail

To make a payment by mail, you can mail a check or money order made out to WI SCTF to:

WI SCTF PO Box 74200 Milwaukee, WI 53274-0200

To ensure your payment is applied to your account, include a payment coupon with your support payment. Also, include your KIDS Pin or Social Security number on your check or money order. There are multiple different types of coupons on the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families Website.

WI Child Support Card

The Wisconsin Child Support Program provides a secure and convenient way to receive payments with the Wisconsin Way2Go Debit MasterCard, issued by Comerica Bank and managed by Way2Go. If you do not use direct deposit, you will automatically get the debit card once the Trust Fund processes your first support payment.
